We all need a boost from time to time. Here are some sites and posts that keep me going when I need it.
General: Writing Blogs & News Sites
(I’m adding some of my favourite sites on writing, TV, the Canadian film industry, etc.)
Dead Things ON Sticks: Derek McGrath is a Toronto-based TV writer, who has written for The Border and Rent-A-Goalie, amongst others. Opinions? He’s got ‘em.
Earl Pomerantz: Just Thinking. A Canadian-bred TV writer who has written for Cheers, Taxi, Mary Tyler Moore and the Cosby Show.
Complications Ensue: Alex Epstein’s Crafty TV and Screenwriting Blog.

TV, Eh? If anyone says that nothing ever happens in Canadian Television, send them here. If this site didn’t exist, someone would have to create it. Wonderful source of information on Canadian television shows, with links to articles plus scheduling information and network media releases.
Getting Things Done
(Sites on the subject of getting organized and getting crap done.)
43 Folders. Merlin Mann writes about Getting Things Done (GTD), a methodology defined by productivity guru David Allen.
Specifics: Writing Techniques
Specific pages on how people I admire are writing, or trying to write.
Neal Stephens on keeping his writing time sacred: A novelist confesses he’d rather write novels than communicate with his fans. (The Horror!) “I am trying to be a good novelist, and hoping that people will forgive me for being a bad correspondent.” Via 43folders. [Interesting to note: he writes in unbroken 4 hour chunks of time; anything less and he feels he's not productive.]
Specifics: Motivations
Specific pages on Motivations, Rewards, etc.
When Play Becomes Work, from the Washington Post: Shankar Vedantam’s piece on rewards and motivations, and what happens when one’s passion turns into a paycheck. Via 43folders.
Other random motivations:
I’ve always wanted a place where I could store little phrases or motivational ideas. And since I’m using WordPress more than I’ve ever used Delicious or Protopage, maybe I’ll start keeping those Timbits here.
